The oldest name in Phoenix Mountain tea, from last year's harvest.
Song Zhong (宋种) is the Song dynasty lineage, tea trees said to go back around a thousand years. Huang Zhi Xiang (黄枝香) means yellow gardenia fragrance. It's the clean, lifted floral one in the Dancong family.
This is the 2025 harvest, a year older than the 2026 on our shelf. Brew them side by side if you want to taste the difference yourself.
In the cup: gardenia on the nose before you lift the cup, a smooth body with no rough edges, and a cooling sweetness in the throat that lingers after the cup is empty.
The 50g tin comes with a 7g sample, one full gaiwan session.
The 250g is for daily drinking. It comes with a 50g tin to keep on the table, plus a sample.
Brewing
- 7g · 100°C · Gaiwan
- Rinse once and discard to wake the leaves
- 1st to 6th infusion: pour in and out as fast as you can
- Add 5 seconds each round after the 6th · 10 to 15 infusions
- Boiling water only. A fast pour keeps it sweet and clean.
