Lao Cong: old bush, refers to tea plants left to grow for decades rather than pruned back for higher yield. The older the bush, the deeper the roots reach, and the more that depth shows up in the cup. A century-old bush is about as old as this category gets.

In the cup: the roasted depth you know from Wuyi rock tea, but rounder and heavier, old bush character gives it a mossy, woody undertone underneath the usual mineral edge. Slower to give everything up, and better for it.
